How to Get a Copy of a Wilson Court Document

The clerk of Superior Court maintains records for both criminal and civil cases. Copies are available in two forms: uncertified and certified. A certified copy bears the clerk's seal and verifies the document's authenticity — often required by banks, employers, or other courts.

In Person. Visit the clerk's office at the courthouse at 115 E Nash St, Wilson. You will need the party's last name or case number.

By Mail. Send a written request including the full name of the party, type of case, and desired copy format:

Include a check or money order for the appropriate amount (see fee table below). The clerk will send copies by return mail.

Online. Through the Request a Public Record portal, you can request court documents. Note: Marriage, birth, and death certificates are not issued by the court but by NC Vital Records or the local Register of Deeds. Divorce certificates can be obtained from the court clerk or through NC Vital Records.

Some records have restricted access — juvenile cases, adoptions, sealed cases, and expunged records. Ask the clerk if a specific case is available for public viewing.
